MCE approves construction at school grounds
CUSTER — Construction at the Mason County Eastern schools will soon be underway following the approval of two bids from contractors at the Monday, May 20 board of education meeting.
MCE Superintendent Paul Shoup stated that the projects include sidewalk replacement and exterior door and door frame replacement at the middle-high school and elementary buildings, as well as at the gym.
Patron Construction will complete the sidewalk replacement for $10,600, while the rest of the work will be completed by S.A. Morman for $61,755.
Shoup told the Daily News that the work will be payed for through the district’s 1.25-mill sinking fund, which was approved by voters during the Aug. 7, 2018 primary election.
He said the bids were the lowest the district received for the respective projects.
“These were the best bids meeting the specs for the projects and we have worked with these companies in the past for similar projects with great success,” he said.
