SAISD to launch area’s first all-girls public elementary school
The San Antonio Independent School District will open an all-girls elementary school next August in what is now Page Middle School.
Students from the campus could go on to SAISD’s celebrated Young Women’s Leadership Academy, which serves middle and high school grades. The new school, YWLA Primary at Page, will open with kindergarten and first grades, adding grades each year up to fifth.

Delia McLerran, the principal at Young Women’s Leadership Academy, will oversee both schools. Both will have associate principals that report to McLerran.
“We just see this as building a strong pipeline, creating another option for families and building on the success that YWLA has had,” SAISD Superintendent Pedro Martinez said at a Wednesday morning news conference.
