Activists to march to call for end of all slaughterhouses
BOSTON (AP) — Animal rights activists are planning to gather in Boston to call for an end to all slaughterhouses.
In Boston, organizers are planning to gather on the Boston Common at noon on Sunday before marching through the city. They say their ultimate goal is to abolish the practice of killing animals for food worldwide. Organizers say meat consumption causes more suffering and death than any other human activity and is completely unnecessary.
The march is one of more than three dozen planned for around the globe, including marches in Paris, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Barcelona, Tokyo, Dublin, Liverpool, Los Angeles and New York.
Activists say farming, fishing and hunting — as well as the selling of animal products — should be abolished because animals are sentient beings that must not be mistreated.
