Northeast Oklahoma deputy wounded when shot during struggle
OOLOGAH, Okla. (AP) — Authorities in Oklahoma say a deputy sheriff is recovering Wednesday after he was shot during a struggle with a suspect.
Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton says the deputy was treated at a hospital for a wound to the abdomen and released following the shooting in Oologah. Walton says the deputy was one of two deputies investigating reports of a man attacking his father with a screwdriver late Tuesday when the man barricaded himself inside a building.
Walton says the man eventually emerged and charged at deputies, then fought with them over the deputy’s gun. The sheriff says the deputy was shot during the struggle.
Walton says the suspect is hospitalized in undisclosed condition for a head injury he suffered at some point during the confrontation.
