Prince Charles’ Plaster Cast Is Boost For Church
LONDON (AP) _ Prince Charles has donated the plaster cast from his broken arm to help raise cash to repair the roof of a country church damaged in storms, a church official said.
The Prince of Wales broke his arm June 28 in a fall during a polo match.
″After the accident, I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to ask the prince if he would give us the cast,″ said Reg Little.
He is warden of the Church of St. Thomas of Canterbury in Kingswear, Devon, which suffered $25,000 worth of damage in February’s storms.
″I wrote a letter and went to the gate of Highgrove (the prince’s Gloucestershire residence), but there was no letterbox and no one about. So I threw the letter over the gate,″ he said.
The prince’s private secretary got in touch a week later, saying Charles agreed to donate the cast, Little said.
He said the cast will either be auctioned or put up as a prize in a drawing.
