Colorado’s Blake Hurts Knee

March 21, 2001

DENVER (AP) _ Rob Blake sprained his right knee Tuesday night, and Colorado’s All-Star defenseman might be sidelined for a few weeks.

Blake, acquired by the Avalanche from the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 21, collided with San Jose’s Bill Lindsay at mid-ice early in the second period of Colorado’s 4-1 victory over San Jose.

Blake limped to the bench and immediately went to the locker room.

``I think we’re going to be a few weeks without Rob,″ coach Bob Hartley said. ``The injury is quite similar to what Ray (Bourque) had last year in the playoffs.″

Blake was to be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Avalanche goalie Patrick Roy left the game with tendinitis in his knee early in the final period. Roy’s injury wasn’t believed serious, but he also didn’t return.

``We feel that Patrick’s injury is minor,″ Hartley said. ``I don’t know which knee. It’s going to be a couple of days. He told me this morning he felt it a little bit. He couldn’t move around the net.″
