What’s Brewing? Brewers of Pennsylvania Guild launches Digital Ale Trail app
If you’re losing track of all the new breweries popping up in Pennsylvania, or wish you could find the closest cluster within biking distance, the Brewers of Pennsylvania (BOP) has an app for that. BOP is Pennsylvania’s official brewers guild and the recent launch of a free Digital Ale Trail App has everyone buzzing.
This app is specifically geared for craft beer enthusiasts and weekend sippers to be the definitive source to locate all of the Pennsylvanian craft breweries and so much more. The Digital Trail App was made possible through a $60,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Malt and Brewed Beverages Industry Promotion Board earlier in 2018. There have been more than 1,000 downloads in the first three weeks.
A quick glance at the blue location pins that are stacked atop top of each other on the map will reveal why our Commonwealth is sixth in the nation for having the most breweries. Probably more by the time you’re done reading this. I know that Pennsylvania has slightly more than 200 breweries, but to see this displayed on a map is overwhelming at best.
Not only will the app perform the obvious task of locating all the breweries in your area, but it’ll tell you what’s on tap and the hours of operation. No more arriving at a brewery that closed an hour ago, or is that just me? This app makes it easy to plan a tour with your family and friends. In addition, there’s an integrated passport program to allow consumers to earn rewards and prizes.
Based on your previous check-in activity, the app can even suggest the beers you enjoyed the last time. There’s a photo booth built into the app for you to take pictures. This will prove to your friends that you were really there after you post that picture to your page using the apps social media integration. While you’re at it, maybe post another picture of you in back of an Uber so we know you got home safe, will ya?
The free Digital Ale Trail App includes the handy Craft Beer Style Guide to help you recall that stouts are drier tasting than porters and that not all IPAs are hazy. There’s a separate page for upcoming beer-related events and another for the pertinent news you shouldn’t miss from the Brewers of Pennsylvania.
