LES MOONVES FIGHTS LOSS OF SEVERANCE

NEW YORK (AP) — Would you walk away from $120 million without a fight? Apparently Les Moonves isn’t able to, either. The ousted CEO of CBS is challenging the decision to deny him his severance package. CBS board members decided recently that he wasn’t entitled to the severance because he violated company policy leading to his being let go. They also say that Moonves wasn’t on the up-and-up when it came to investigating the sexual misconduct claims against him. Moonves isn’t letting that slide. He is asking that the matter be submitted to binding arbitration. Word of the scuffle over the severance is mentioned in a filing that CBS made with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“BIRD BOX” CRITICIZED FOR FOOTAGE

NEW YORK (AP) — Netflix is drawing fire for some footage used in its survival film “Bird Box.” At issue is a clip from 2013 which shows a fiery train disaster in the Canadian province of Quebec. In that incident, an unattended train carrying crude oil rolled down an incline, came off the tracks and exploded into a fireball — killing 47 people. Netflix says it has no plans to remove the clip. It says it bought it from a stock image vendor and used it in a TV news montage to set up the series, which is set in a post-apocalyptic era.
