Tree Advisory Board taking nominations for Green Leaf Award

August 7, 2018

NORFOLK - If you or someone you know has a beautifully landscaped yard give it some recognition by nominating it for the annual Green Leaf Award.

Since 2011 the City of Norfolk Tree Advisory Board has awarded the Green Leaf Award to a business and more recently a residence that has exceptional landscaping.

Communications Manager Liz Wallace says the Tree Advisory Board wants to see certain criteria for a yard to be considered.

“One thing that they are specifically looking for is trees within the landscaping. The landscaping has to be visible from the street, it can’t be someones backyard or where the public can’t access it. The award is just a way to show appreciation to the residence for all that they do.”

Wallace says last year’s winners were McDonalds on Riverside Boulevard, and Dennis Collins.

If you want to nominate a residence or business email a picture or letter of recommendation to LWallace@Ci.Norfolk.Ne.Us or mail to Liz at 309 North 5th Street.

The deadline for submitting nominations is September 28th. The award winners will be presented at the October 15th City Council meeting.
