Bridgeport ranked one of the ‘least fun’ cities in the country

September 17, 2018

Is Bridgeport the Debbie Downer of cities? Maybe, according to a new poll by the financial web site WalletHub.

In its latest offering, the site ranked 182 cities according to how “fun” they are, based on such criteria as fitness centers per capita to movie costs to average open hours of breweries. Bridgeport was named the third least-fun city nationwide, with only Oxnard, Calif. and Pearl City, Hawaii scoring lower on the fun-o-meter.

New Haven was seen as slightly more fun, ranking 158th on the list — not exactly party town, but better than Bridgeport.

Las Vegas was ranked as the most fun city, which isn’t particularly shocking, as its entire reputation is based on being so fun that visitors must keep their revelry a secret.

Orlando, Fla., New York City, Atlanta and Miami rounded out the top five most fun cities.

Sources used for the survey included the U.S. Census Bureau, The Trust for Public Land, and the Council for Community and Economic Research, as well as multiple consumer sites, including Kayak, TripAdvisor.

Other findings from the study include the information that number three fun city New York has the most restaurants, playgrounds and bars per square root of population.
