No. 11 Louisiana Tech 67, New Orleans 60
RUSTON, La. (AP) _ Freshman Vickie Johnson sank three critical 3-point shots during a sluggish first half and the 11th-ranked Lady Techsters went on to beat New Orleans 67-60 in Friday night’s semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference women’s tournament.
Johnson’s 23 points and 11 rebounds helped send Tech (23-4) into Saturday’s championship game against the winner of a later semifinal between No. 16 Western Kentucky and Arkansas State.
New Orleans finished its season at 18-10.
New Orleans seized a 10-0 lead before Johnson finally hit Tech’s first field goal on a driving layup with 14:24 to go in the first half. Tech went on to take a 33-30 halftime lead.
Debra Williams added 17 points for Tech.
Kenya Robinson and Robin Martin had 17 points apiece for UNO and Cassandra Lumpkins added 12.
