12-year-old boy suspected of starting Billings house fire
BILLLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Billings police say they have arrested a 12-year-old boy they suspect intentionally started a house fire that hospitalized six people.
Police officials said in a statement Wednesday the boy is in custody with youth services and the case has been turned over to the Yellowstone County Attorney’s Office.
The statement says an investigation determined the fire had been intentionally set and the boy was arrested after being interviewed.
Four adults and two children were inside the home early Tuesday. The Billings Gazette reports they were taken to local hospitals for smoke inhalation and burns.
Three adults and a child have been released, while the second child was in stable condition at Salt Lake City Children’s Hospital.
Multiple dogs, cats and guinea pigs inside the home also survived.
