Angels acquire Rich DeLucia from Giants
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ The pitching-poor Anaheim Angels, whose team ERA through 10 games was 6.70, acquired right-hander Rich DeLucia from the San Francisco Giants Monday for a player to be named later.
The Angels also placed right-hander Mark Gubicza on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Saturday because of discomfort in his pitching shoulder.
DeLucia was 0-0 with a 10.80 ERA in three appearances with the Giants this season. He has a 30-40 lifetime record with a 4.71 ERA in 217 career games, 49 of them starts.
DeLucia also has pitched for Seattle, Cincinnati and St. Louis.
Gubicza is 0-1 with a 25.07 ERA in two games this season, both of them starts. He experienced discomfort in his shoulder last Friday night and was examined by team physician Dr. Lewis Yocum at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood the following day.
An MRI was performed on Gubicza’s shoulder and the results showed no damage. Gubicza received a cortisone injection and was scheduled to begin therapy in Anaheim Monday.
