Norfolk Police make a couple of arrests over the weekend
NORFOLK - An Omaha woman was arrested after a traffic stop Saturday evening.
According to Captain Don Miller, a Norfolk Police Officer observed a vehicle stopped in the 100 block of North 25th Street.
After stopping the vehicle in the traffic lane, the driver exited the vehicle and began walking around the car.
The officer contacted the driver who was identified as 44-year-old Suzanne King.
While the officer spoke to King, she continued acting in an unusual manner.
The officer continued his investigation and eventually placed King under arrest for driving under the influence of drugs- 1st offense.
She was booked into the Norfolk City jail, and later transported to the Madison County Jail.
Also, a Norfolk man with his child in the vehicle with him was placed under arrest Sunday afternoon by Norfolk Police.
Miller said the vehicle was facing the wrong direction in the traffic lane in the 1900 block of Center Drive.
A officer observed a man slumped forward in the driver seat with a young child in the back seat.
The driver was identified as 23-year-old Wilfredo Lara. The officer found an
air duster can in Lara’s pocket, and spoke to a witness who saw Lara huffing from an air can right before passing out and stopping the car.
A records check also showed a warrant for Lara’s arrest and that his driver’s license was suspended.
Lara was placed under arrest for Driving under the influence of Drugs, 1st offense (with a passenger under 16), driving under suspension, inhaling an intoxicating substance, Madison County arrest warrant, and Lancaster County arrest warrant.
Lara was also charged with child abuse. The 2-year-old child was placed with her mother.
Lara was booked into the Norfolk City Jail and later transported to the Madison County Jail.
