Norfolk Arts Center names new Executive Director
NORFOLK - The Board of Directors of the Norfolk Arts Center have named Denice Hansen as the new Executive Director to replace Kara Weander Gaster who stepped down in June.
Hansen started out at the Arts Center four years ago as a Program Coordinator and was later promoted to Assistant Director.
Then before her new Executive Director role she acted as the Interim Director.
Hansen says she’s excited about stepping into the new position.
“I truly love this organization and what it stands for as I believe in it’s mission of bringing people and the arts together. I’m eager to step into this role and utilize my background in marketing and public relations. Also, I’m a local native originally from Pierce so I’m looking forward to utilizing those local connections to further extend the reach of arts in our community.”
Although she just got named to the position Wednesday, Hansen says she already has some goals in mind for the future of the Arts Center.
She says she wants to push learning opportunities for area students in the theatre and classroom, continue to grow community festivals, and strive for self-sustainability to ensure the arts thrive when outside factors are less reliable.
