Dallas at Los Angeles Lakers (10:30 p.m. EST). Lakers star Kobe Bryant, facing a trial on a sexual assault charge, could miss the season-opener as he recovers from a knee injury.
New Orleans placed forward Jamal Mashburn, guard Courtney Alexander and rookie center James Lang on the injured list Monday. Mashburn, who missed all eight preseason games with a bone bruise in his right knee, will be out approximately two more weeks. Alexander has a ruptured right Achilles' tendon, and Lang has back spasms. ... Guard Ray Allen and rookie forward Nick Collision were placed on the injured list by Seattle. Allen has an injured right ankle, while Collison is out for the season after surgery to repair a partially dislocated left shoulder.
Boston exercised the fourth-year option on the contract of Kedrick Brown, who will open the season as the starting small forward. The Celtics placed three forwards Brandon Hunter, Kendrick Perkins and Chris Mills on the injured list Monday. ... New Jersey picked up the options on the contracts of forward Richard Jefferson and center Jason Collins.
