Blazers golf adds Senior Day match

Marquette has added a boys golf match Friday at 4 p.m. versus Illiana Christian at Michigan City Municipal Golf Course for the program’s Senior Day.

McLain to appear in Three Oaks

The Biggest Little Baseball Museum and the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Mich., will host Denny McLain, baseball’s last 30-game winner, on June 22. The former Detroit Tiger, who won the American League MVP and Cy Young awards in 1968, when he went 31-6, will conduct an autograph session at the museum, located at 3 N. Elm St., from 9-11 a.m. At 11:30, he will appear on stage at the nearby Acorn Theater, where he will reminisce with fans about his teammates and the ’68 world championship season. The presentation will be followed by another autograph session in the theater lobby. The $10 theater admission price includes a hot dog, unlimited soft drinks, and a box of Cracker Jack. There will also be a cash bar. Tickets are available on the Acorn website at www.acornlive.org.

Softball travel team needs catcher

The PJM Elite 14U travel softball team is looking for a catcher and would consider an all-around utility player. Players must have been 13 or 14 as of Dec. 31, 2018. The Class C team, based at the Portage Junior Miss Softball Complex, plays a full summer schedule, including NSA and USSSA tournaments. Westville golf outing Saturday

The Westville Alumni Association will host a golf outing Saturday at the Michigan City Municipal Course. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch at 11:30 and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Scott. C. Knoll Scholarship Fund. In the 12 years of the event, over $75,000 in scholarships have been awarded to graduating Westville seniors. The outing will be a four-person scramble. Entry fee is $65 per individual and $260 per foursome before May 17 and $75 per golfer after May. Entry is limited to the first 100 paid golfers. The fee includes lunch, greens fee, cart and meal after golf. Prizes will be awarded for longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. Deadline is May 23. Meet Rusty, win TV at House of Hope outing

Rusty the RailCat will be on hand at the House of Hope baseball field, 907 Chicago St., Michigan City, from 11 a.m. to noon on June 15. The first 25 people in attendance receive free hot dogs and snack packs. A 32-inch TCL Roku TV will also be raffled off. Tickets are available at the Michigan Township Trustee Office, 2601 E.
