ELOISE VANCE DEMENT, 71, of South Charleston passed away on September 14, 2018, at UK Hospital, Lexington, Ky. Eloise was born on November 25, 1946. in Huntington, W.Va., to the late Audley Vance and Helen Berry Eckert. She was a 1964 graduate of Vinson High School. She was a member of First Church of God, South Charleston, where she was a member of the choir. Eloise was retired from United Bank, formerly First Bank of Ceredo with many years of service working at the Huntington, Charleston, Dunbar and South Charleston locations. She was a member of the South Charleston Women’s Club and most loved spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by her brother, Roger L. Vance. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jim Dement; brother Rodney Vance (Marsha) of Spring Hill, Fla.; special aunt, Juanita White of Summerville, S.C.; three step-daughters, Kathy Pollom (John) of Huntington, W.Va., Cheryl Harper (Andrew) of Texas, Terry Davenport (T.A. Meade) of Mesa, Ariz.; step-son Ralph Dement (Aneta) of Germany; nieces Heather Garris (Jimmy) of Ansted, Robin Adkins (David) of Wayne, Tammy Vance, and Angela Vance; nephews Doug Vance (Rosie) of Uniontown, Pa., Robert Vance (Julie) of Charlotte, N.C., and Scott Vance; sister-inlaw Jackie Vance of Huntington; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Eloise is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews and the sisters that she never had...“you know who you are.” A service to honor the life of Eloise will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, family and friends may visit from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
