Washington state woman, 78, killed in Nevada rollover
HAWTHORNE, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a 78-year-old woman from Washington state who was killed in a single rollover crash on U.S. Highway 95 in the high desert about 140 miles (225 kilometers) southeast of Reno.
The patrol says Edna Mae Hammack of Black Diamond, Washington died from her injuries at an area hospital about an hour after the crash in Mineral County about 15 miles (24 kilometers) south of Hawthorne.
A preliminary investigation indicates she failed to negotiate a left curve in the road, traveling off the right side of the road before she over-corrected.
The green 2000 Suzuki SUV she was driving crossed over both highway lanes and eventually overturned.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact NHP at 775-945-1420.
