Nonprofit collects 43,000 holiday cards for service members
HOLLIS, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire woman says she’s collected thousands of cards to send to military service members this holiday season.
Laura Landerman-Garber says she’s received more than 43,000 cards this year for her nonprofit Holiday Cards 4 Our Military, New Hampshire Challenge. WMUR-TV reports her goal was to collect 25,000 to send around the world to all five branches of the U.S. military.
Landerman-Garber says she has written holiday cards to service members for the past 15 years. She started the project last year while a family friend was deployed with the Navy.
Landerman-Garber says she feels it is always good to reach outside yourself and send a message of appreciation.
