BLM draining northern Montana reservoir for repairs on dam
CHINOOK, Mont. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management is conducting a gradual drawdown of a north-central Montana reservoir so repair and maintenance work can be done on the dam.
State fisheries employees are working to capture as many fish as possible during the drawdown of Reser Reservoir northwest of Chinook and transfer them to other area reservoirs.
Fish, Wildlife and Parks personnel are setting trap nets to collect yellow perch, bluegill, black crappie and largemouth bass.
The perch and black crappie will be going to Bailey reservoir south of Kremlin while the bluegill and largemouth bass will go to separate reservoirs east of Chinook.
One the repairs are made FWP will re-stock Reser Reservoir.
