Vermont police say man, 30, dies after Fairfield ATV crash

September 30, 2018

FAIRFIELD, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police say a 30-year-old man is dead after he rode an ATV into a logging cable that was stretched across a field in the town of Fairfield.

The crash in a field off North Road was reported about 1:40 p.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, State Police identified the victim as Ryan Branon of Fairfield.

The investigation found that Branon had been working on a logging winch and a cable had been stretched across a field to uncoil it. Branon left the field for lunch and when he returned he apparently forgot about the cable, striking it with his upper body and neck.

Branon was found by family members.
