Bulls Waive Hersey Hawkins

September 19, 2000

CHICAGO (AP) _ Guard Hersey Hawkins was waived by the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday after one season with the club.

Hawkins, 33, averaged 7.9 points in 61 games, making 49 starts. He was scheduled to make $4.5 million next season, which would be his 12th in the league.

A left calf injury forced Hawkins to miss a game against Cleveland on Dec. 10, snapping his consecutive-games streak at 527.

Hawkins joined the Bulls in August 1999, in a trade with the Seattle SuperSonics. He’s also played for the 76ers and Hornets.
