LAPLATA, Md. (AP) _ Two men drowned Saturday when they became trapped in a well they were repairing.

George Lewis Montgomery, 49, of Nanjemoy, Md., was working inside the well when he complained of feeling lightheaded, said Charles County sheriff's dispatcher Christina Eaton.

Gregory James Keys, 40, of Indian Head, Md., went down to help Montgomery, but a platform inside the well broke and the two men fell into the water, Ms. Eaton said.

Investigator Michael Elmore said the men slipped under the water and drowned after they ran out of oxygen in the well shaft.
