OPS board selects 2 finalists for superintendent slot

January 24, 2018

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The board of Nebraska’s largest school district has narrowed the field of applicants for schools superintendent to two.

The Omaha Public Schools board announced Tuesday night that its finalists are Cheryl Logan, chief academic officer for the School District of Philadelphia, and Harrison Peters, deputy superintendent of Hillsborough County Schools in Tampa, Florida.

Board President Marque Snow says Logan’s and Peters’ backgrounds in urban education gave them the edge over other applicants.

The board hopes to have a new superintendent hired by early February.
