IRONTON — Plans are in the works for the seventh year of the Ironton Farmers Market, according to Sam Heighton, executive director of Ironton aLive.

The winter meeting for the Farmers Market is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. The meeting will be held in the lobby of the Ironton City Center, 301 S. 3rd St.

“We have some 35 vendors and spaces for 23 vendors,” Heighton said Monday. “Not every vendor comes every week.”

“The farmers market has grown every year with the number of vendors and the number of customers,” he said. “We’re looking for another good year this year.”

All vendors are invited to help plan the upcoming season, Heighton said. Current vendors and those wanting to become a vendor are encouraged to attend, he said.

The farmers market on South 2nd Street is open twice a week from May through October. The market is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until the produce is sold out, Heighton said.

The first day for the farmers market this year will be Friday, May 3.

The Ironton Farmers Market is sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky.
