Pasadena council gives preliminary OK to tax rate increase
Pasadena City Council is poised to approve a 4 cent increase to the property tax rate on Oct. 16 when it meets for the second and final vote.
The council voted 6-2 in an Oct. 9 special meeting to give preliminary approval to the rate, which would be 61.5 cents per $100 valuation.
Voting no were Don Harrison and Sammy Casados. Voting in favor of the increase were Felipe Villarreal, Bruce Leamon, Phil Cayten, Cary Bass, Thomas Schoenbein and Mayor Jeff Wagner. Councilman Cody Ray Wheeler was absent from the meeting.
The final vote on the tax rate increase will take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Pasadena City Hall, 1149 Ellsworth.
