National Teacher of the Year to speak
The Sul Ross State University Education Department has scheduled Mandy Manning, the 2018 National Teacher of the Year, to speak at 7 p.m. Monday in Marshall Auditorium on campus, 400 N. Harrison St., Alpine.
Manning, an English teacher for newly arrived refugee and immigrant students, works at Joel E. Ferris High School’s Newcomer Center in Spokane, Wash. She was named Washington State’s Teacher of the Year in September 2017, and received her most recent honor in April.
Admission is free and open to the public.
