ESTERO, Fla. (AP) _ Sam Mack and Mike James hit 3-pointers during a late 7-1 run as the Miami Heat held off Milwaukee 92-89 Thursday night in an exhibition game at TECO Arena.

Mack's 3-pointer put Miami up 81-79 and James converted a four-point play, hitting a 22-footer and drawing a foul on Bucks guard Reggie Allston.

Mack led the Heat with 19 points, Sean Marks added 13 and Ricky Davis 11.

Heat center Alonzo Mourning, who sat out the majority of last season because of a kidney ailment, had nine points and nine rebounds in 25 minutes.

After missing two free throws with 26.8 seconds to go, Mourning made two free throws with 18.8 seconds left to help ice the game.

The Bucks, down by as many as nine early in the third quarter, came back as Sam Cassell scored 14 of his 21 points in the period. Ray Allen added 20 points for the Bucks in their preseason opener.

Forward Glenn Robinson, still recovering from offseason surgery for bone spurs on both feet, did not play for the Bucks. The Heat played without guards Anthony Carter (abdominal strain) and Eddie Jones (offseason shoulder surgery).

The game was stopped five minutes into the first quarter to listen to the Presidential address and news conference.
