HUNTINGTON — Marshall University’s volleyball team has won two straight and three of its last four matches entering its Conference USA opener.

Marshall (7-7) and the Charlotte 49ers (9-6) clash at 6 p.m. Friday in Cam Henderson Center. Admission to Marshall volleyball is $5 for adults and $3 for children from age 3 to 12

“Always an exciting time of the year to be going into conference,” Thundering Herd head coach Mitch Jacobs said in a release. “I think we have gotten a lot of questions answered. Time to get going and hope we can get healthy quick.

“Charlotte is always a super tough match for us and it seems to have become a bit of a rivalry. (Charlotte head coach) Karen (Weatherington) does a phenomenal job and has built that program up very quickly along with her very experienced staff. Hopefully we will have a nice showing and make it a strong match.”

Marshall went 2-1 last weekend in a tournament at Bowling Green with victories against Nicholls State and IUPUI and a loss to the host Falcons. Sophomore Ciara Debell and junior Amber Weber were named to the all-tournament team.

Weber was also honored as the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week and Gabrielle Coulter was named as the C-USA Freshman of the Week.

Charlotte is coming off a victory against South Florida.
