Death reported at Aero Center

January 30, 2019

A person died as a result of a head injury at Premier Avionics at Fort Wayne Aero Center, according to information obtained from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

The death occurred Tuesday morning at the company at 11007 W. Perimeter Drive, said Steve Stone, public information officer for the sheriff’s department. The sheriff’s department did not respond to the incident, he added.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to Fort Wayne International Airport to assist EMS with a traumatic injury, Deputy Fire Chief Adam O’Connor said Tuesday.

“They arrived on scene where airport police and fire were already on scene assisting the victim,” O’Connor said. “Three Rivers Ambulance Authority arrived on scene as well. The patient was pronounced dead at the scene.”

More information should be coming from the Allen County coroner, according to Michael Joyner, public information officer with the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Rollover crash on I-69 kills driver

A 29-year-old man was killed Saturday morning when he lost control of his work van on Interstate 69, according to the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department said the unidentified driver was northbound on I-69 at 7:25 a.m. when his van rolled over 100 feet south of the mile marker 286.

According to a release from the sheriff’s department, the driver lost control of the van because of black ice on a bridge south of the mile marker 286.

The van went down an embankment and rolled at least once before coming to a rest on its top, the release said. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered blunt force trauma and died at the scene.

A deputy was working a crash just north of the rollover and saw the accident. The deputy respond immediately and found the victim, the news release said.
