Steel City Rowing is soliciting home brewers for its Fall Harvest Brewfest annual fall fundraiser, scheduled on Oct. 20 at 101 Arch St., Verona.

New this year is the “Brewer for the Day” award, sponsored by Rivertowne Brewing in Export.

Hop Farm Brewing Co.’s brewmaster will judge those entries, according to a news release.

Guests will serve as judges for the Blind Tasting entries and the Tasters Choice Award, which is given to the popular brewer.

A VIP pre-party blind tasting begins at 6 p.m., with a souvenir glass for taste testing crafted brews and hors d’oeuvres. There will be eight voting categories.

The Main event, from 7-10 p.m., includes beer and finger food samplers, with those attending invited to vote for best brewer.

Rivertowne will brew seven to 10 barrels of the winning brew, which will subsequently be offered throughout its distribution network, according to the release.

Since 2012, the fall event has raised over $25,000 to support athletic, educational and environmental programs for youths and adults throughout the community and region, the release notes.

Tickets are $35, VIP; $25, general admission; $15, designated driver.

Proceeds support the programs Steel City Rowing Club offers.
