BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) _ Ralph Perdomo’s three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday night gave William Paterson a 3-1 victory over California Lutheran and the NCAA Division III baseball championship.

Perdomo’s blast ruined California Lutheran reliever Mike Teron’s bid for a third tournament save.

Teron struck out Dan Bartolomeo, but walked Keith Eaddy on four pitches to bring up Perdomo with two men on.

The Pioneers (36-7) were undefeated in the double-elimination tournament.

Teron (4-1) had not allowed a hit and struck out four in three innings. He replaced starter Pat Norville, who struck out eight, walked two and gave up two hits.

Scott Farber (8-0) struck out nine, walked three and scattered six hits. He ended the game with three strikeouts.

California Lutheran (43-6) advanced to the title game with a 2-0 victory over Methodist earlier Tuesday. Steve Dempsey went the distance on a seven- hitter, striking out 10 and walking one.
