Fredrick G. Miller, 75, of Kankakee, passed away Friday (Aug. 17, 2018) at Miller Rehabilitation in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, until the 11 a.m. funeral services at Shiloh Full Gospel Baptist Church. Pastor Anthony Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory, Kankakee.
Fredrick G. Miller was born March 2, 1943, in Chattanooga, Tenn., the son of Henry and Clyde Holmes Miller. He graduated from Howard High School in 1961. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music from Knoxville College in 1977 and his Master’s Degree from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1979.
He was a member of Shiloh Full Gospel Baptist Church where he served as a minister of music. He was a music teacher in the Pembroke School District 259 and retired after over 30 years of service.
Mr. Miller was a humble man and a friend to anyone. Although he had no children of his own, many were under his tutelage for piano lessons.
He leaves to cherish his memory, four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Robert Labron and Esther Smith, of Chattanooga, Tenn., James E. and Myrtle Smith, of Lithonia, Ga., Tommy and Cassandra Simpson, of Stone Mountain, Ga., and John T. Simpson, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Joyce and Robert Parker, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Laverne Wilson, of Detroit, Mich.; a dear aunt, Lavonia Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and one sister, Thelma Haygood.
