Missing Myrtle Creek man found dead
The Riddle firefighter who had been missing since March 12 was found dead Thursday, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Justin Grant Bibow, 29, was reported missing after friends and family last had contact with Bibow two days earlier.
On Wednesday, a citizen alerted the sheriff’s office that a Dodge pickup had been found burned approximately 6 miles up West Fork Cow Creek Road outside of Riddle.
Deputies and investigators from the sheriff’s office arrived and determined the vehicle belonged to Bibow. After searching the area, Bibow was located deceased away from the vehicle.
The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office is continuing its investigation into the death, but foul play does not appear to be a factor, according to a press release.
Bibow served as a fire captain for the Riddle Fire Protection District.
“Our deepest condolences and sympathy goes out to all his family and friends,” said Chief Devin Loughridge and Assistant Chief Paul Ritter in a press release. “Justin served his community for 15 years as a volunteer firefighter, starting with the Tri-City Rural Fire Protection District.
“The Riddle Fire Protection District would like to thank everyone that put their time and effort into locating Justin,” they said.
