JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ Jaguars linebacker Keith Mitchell was released from the hospital Monday, one day after being taken from the field on a stretcher with a neck injury.

Mitchell's status for the rest of the season will be determined later. Punt returner Jermaine Lewis was lost for the year with a torn ligament in his left knee.

Mitchell went down after hitting Bills running back Travis Henry. Coach Jack Del Rio said the seventh-year linebacker briefly lost feeling in his extremities, but never lost movement.

He stayed overnight in the hospital, where tests showed no broken bones and no major damage.

``We're not concerned about when he gets back right now,'' Del Rio said. ``We're just happy he's going to be healthy and normal. We're more concerned about his functions for life than for football.''

Lewis, an eighth-year player who played for the Texans last year, was signed to a free-agent contract to return punts and play receiver. He finishes this season with five punt returns for 45 yards and four catches for a team-leading 100 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown in the opener.

Also hurt Sunday were cornerback Kiwaukee Thomas (groin) and linebacker Eric Westmoreland (knee). Their status will be determined this week.
