Broadway lane restriction planned near Urban on First
Southbound South Broadway Avenue traffic passing the Urban on First construction site will be restricted for the rest of the year.
Starting Monday, a lane of traffic will be closed for approximately two blocks south of Fourth Street, according to Rochester Public Works.
The $38 million Urban on First development is being built by Minneapolis-based Opus and Rochester’s Titan Development companies, with plans to complete construction next summer.
The six-story, mixed-use building is expected to include space for 9,000 square feet of planned retail business and 156 market-rate apartment units, as well as 156 parking spaces.
The planned lane closure comes two weeks after representatives of Aweys Osman, the owner of the nearby Rochester Halal Market, voiced concerns about the impact construction has had on the business.
Rochester Public Works states access to the business is expected to be maintained with the new lane closure.
