Colts visit Texans...Cowboys host Seahawks...Shiffrin dominates slalom
HOUSTON (AP) — Houston hosts Indianapolis today in an AFC playoff game that seemed improbable early this season after the Texans dropped their first three games and the Colts limped to a 1-5 start. Houston finished 11-5 and Indianapolis 10-6. The AFC South rivals, which both finished 4-12 last season, split their meetings this season.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dak Prescott tries for his first playoff win when Dallas hosts Seattle tonight in a matchup of quarterbacks who became instant NFL success stories. Seattle’s Russell Wilson won a wild-card game with Seattle as a rookie, a Super Bowl in his second season and another NFC championship the third time around. Prescott guided the Cowboys to the top seed in the NFC two years ago. Both teams finished the season 10-6, with Dallas winning the NFC East.
UNDATED (AP) — Oklahoma has hired Ohio State co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Alex Grinch as defensive coordinator. He spent three years as defensive coordinator and secondary coach at Washington State under Mike Leach from 2015-17 and turned a unit that ranked 99th nationally the season before he arrived into one that ranked 16th overall and ninth in pass defense in 2017. After that, Grinch spent one season at Ohio State and helped the Buckeyes reach the Rose Bowl.
ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Mikaela Shiffrin dominated the first women’s World Cup slalom of 2019 today, matching her personal best winning streak in the discipline with seven straight victories. The American two-time overall champion built on a big first-run lead of more than a second to beat Petra Vlhova of Slovakia by 1.25. Wendy Holdener of Switzerland was 1.75 seconds behind in third.
