Woman’s body found in central NY landfill, husband arrested
ROME, N.Y. (AP) — Police in the upstate New York city of Rome say a woman’s body has been found in a landfill and her estranged husband is in custody.
Rome police say the body of 32-year-old Kerrilee D’Avolio was recovered Tuesday. Police say Jason D’Avolio is believed to have killed her Sunday night or Monday morning and disposed of her body in a dumpster.
After a dumpster search, police searched a local landfill and recovered the body. Sheriff’s divers in the Barge Canal recovered a rifle believed used in the killing.
Police say Jason D’Avolio had told his brother what had happened and the brother called 911.
D’Avolio has been charged with concealing a corpse. Police say more charges are anticipated.
It’s not clear if D’Avolio has an attorney to speak for him.
