Peabody man faces drunken driving charge
PEABODY, Mass. (AP) — A Peabody man is headed to court to face drunken driving and vehicular homicide charges in connection with a crash that took the life of his passenger.
A spokeswoman for the Essex district attorney’s office 37-year-old Michael Fowler was behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck a parked flat-bed tow truck at about 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Authorities say Fowler’s passenger, 31-year-old Daniel Walker of Peabody died.
Fowler is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Peabody District Court on charges of felony motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of alcohol; negligent operation; operating under the influence of alcohol, second offense; and leaving the scene of personal injury resulting in death.
It was not clear if he had a lawyer.
