Woman killed in rollover crash on Interstate 77 in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, Ohio --A 44-year-old woman died early Tuesday in a rollover crash on Interstate 77 in downtown Cleveland, police said.

The crash happened about 2:30 a.m. in the highway’s northbound lanes near the Interstate 90 and East 9th Street exit, police said.

The woman died after Cleveland EMS took her to MetroHealth. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released her name.

The woman was driving a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee when it went off the left side of road around a curve. The Jeep rolled over onto its roof before it came to a stop, police said.

Firefighters extricated the woman from the Jeep.

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash, police said.
