RINCON, Ga. (AP) — A new distribution center for Perdue Foods in Georgia is expected to create more than 150 jobs in the Savannah area.

The Savannah Morning News reports that state and community officials gathered Wednesday in Rincon to mark the opening of Perdue's Southeastern Distribution Center.

The 47,000-square-foot facility takes fresh packaged chicken products from Perdue plants which are then weighed, priced and labeled, and shipped to their customers in the region. Perdue officials said the company has invested $5 million as part of a lease partnership with Lineage Logistics, a large temperature controlled supply chain and logistics provider.
