CHICAGO (AP) _ The Cleveland Indians called up right-hander Jason Phillips from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday and gave him his first major league start against the White Sox.
To make room for Phillips, right-hander Jerrod Riggan was sent back to Buffalo.
Phillips was 6-4 with a 3.13 ERA in 14 starts for Buffalo. He pitched previously in the majors, making six appearances for the Pirates in 1999.
Riggan was recalled from Buffalo on June 13 and was 1-1 with a 7.65 ERA in 18 games during two stints with the Indians this season.
