SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Reliever Jay Witasick, obtained last month in a trade with the New York Yankees, agreed to a one-year, $1.25 million deal with the San Francisco Giants on Friday.

Witasick had been eligible for salary arbitration. He made $900,000 last season.

Infielder Ramon Martinez exchanged figures with the Giants. After making $315,000 last year, Martinez is asking for $950,000 and the Giants are offering $675,000.

Witasick was traded from the New York Yankees to the Giants for outfielder John Vander Wal.

Witasick was sent from San Diego to the Yankees last June and was 3-0 with a 4.69 ERA for New York. He made one outing in the World Series against Arizona, allowing nine runs and 10 hits in 1 1-3 innings.

Overall last season, Witasick went 8-2 with a 3.30 ERA. He ranked third among relievers with 12.08 strikeouts per nine innings, trailing only Houston's Octavio Dotel (13.71) and Nelson (12.12).
