France and Croatia Seize Control Early

ATLANTA (AP) _ World champion France and runner-up Croatia posted their second straight victories at the Olympic men’s team handball tournament Thursday.

The French trounced Algeria 33-22, while Croatia outclassed newcomer Kuwait 31-22. Sweden also went 2-0 by beating Switzerland 26-19.

Raoul Prandi led France with six goals, while Stephane Joulane had five, and Jackson Richardson and Frederic Volle each scored four.

Patrik Cavar made 10 of 11 shots as Croatia cruised over Kuwait, while Bozidar Jovic went 7-for-7 and Irfan Smajlagic contributed four.

Erik Hajas notched six for Sweden and Thomas Sivertsson made all five of his shots.
