Rangers’ Greer OK To Play
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ Texas Rangers outfielder Rusty Greer was cleared Monday to return for full duty after being hit in the eye by a ball last week.
Greer was struck by the throw during batting practice in Kansas City, breaking his nose.
Doctors said Greer had experienced some blurred vision after the accident but that has cleared.
The Rangers also extended the contracts of general manager Doug Melvin and manager Johnny Oates for two years. Terms of the deals were not released.
Melvin worked with the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles before joining the Rangers in October 1994.
Oates has also been with Texas since October 1994, compiling a 418-362 record.
