November 28, 2018

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — Vermont officials have identified the two people who died in a house fire in Rutland.

Police said Tuesday DNA testing has confirmed the victims of the October fire were 52-year-old Shane Huntington and 47-year-old Loren Durkee.

Huntington and Durkee were among a group of people the city was trying to evict from the Baxter Street home. The home was listed for sale in 2017 because of unpaid taxes.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. An investigation is ongoing.
