May 15, 2013

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson has added 6-foot-10 Sidy Djitte (SIH’-dee zhih-TAY’) of Senegal to its newest men’s basketball class.

The school announced the signing Wednesday. Djitte averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots last season playing for Northwood Temple Academy in Fayetteville, N.C.

Clemson coach Brad Brownell says Djitte brings athleticism and strength to the Tigers frontcourt.

Djitte joins a group of newcomers that includes 6-3 Patrick Rooks of Charlotte, N.C., 6-6 Austin Ajukwa of Columbia, and 6-10 Ibrahim Djambo (JAHM’-bo) from Mali who played the last two seasons at Three Rivers Community College in Missouri.
