No. 25 Creighton 81, Colorado St. 59

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Creighton wrapped up at least a share of the Western Athletic Conference crown and the top seed in the conference tournament with an 81-59 win over Colorado State on Thursday.

The win was the 11th for the No. 25 Lady Jays (23-3, 12-1 WAC).

The Rams (8-17, 3-10) held Kathy Halligan, Creighton’s all-time leading scorer, to six points, but couldn’t stop sophomore forward Kris Kugel, who finished with 29 points and 12 rebounds.

Kugel scored 19 in the first half, when Creighton raced to a 45-21 lead. Colorado State stayed close for nearly nine minutes, but Creighton broke the game open with a 14-0 run to take a 28-13 lead.

The closest the Rams came in the second half was 17 points, trailing 68-51 with 7:00 left.

Amy Diesburg led Colorado State with 15 points and Wendy Wormal added 14. Mindy Hendrickson added 14 for Creighton.
