A Longmont car dealership is working with a national nonprofit to collect food Saturday and deliver it to Community Food Share.

Victory Motors will be collecting nonperishable food items from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at its dealership, 1330 Main St. People are asked to bring non-perishable items such as peanut butter, rice, beans, canned fruit or vegetables, pasta and cereal.

More than 627,000 people in Colorado are food insecure, according to a news release from Move For Hunger, a nonprofit that connects with moving companies to get food to food banks, which helped organize the event. That statistic includes one in seven children in the state.

Golden Van Lines, a local moving company, has volunteered to take the food from the car dealership to Community Food Share in Louisville.
